2017 “Read to Succeed” Initiative

Published:02/24/2017 | Posted by StevenDouglas

We are proud to support our CEO, Steve Sadaka, who has teamed up with NFL legend, Jason Taylor, and StevenDouglas to help our community’s children in need through the “Read to Succeed” Initiative. The programs goal is to help young people to become better readers, writers, more effective students and ultimately empower them to grow into positive, productive citizens.

Ten years ago, Jason established the Jason Taylor Reading Room, a comprehensive after-school program is designed to address academic challenges among inner-city youth, particularly in the areas of literacy. The program’s curriculum addresses vocabulary development, reading comprehension, language arts, creative writing skills, oral reading fluency and novel study, as well as ninety minutes of weekly math instruction per grade level.

“I am hoping that you will join us this year as we continue to “give kids a fighting chance” through this initiative. I am looking for generous community members like yourself that are willing to contribute $1,000, the cost for one child to participate in the program throughout an entire school year. Any money we raise above what it costs to operate the Reading Room will once again be allocated towards college scholarships and to support our growing bluapple Poetry Network,” says Steve.

In appreciation for your support, each donor who contributes $1,000 or more will be invited to two exclusive events hosted by Jason Taylor and his friends. The first event will be a VIP reception on Wednesday, April 12 at the home of Steve Sadaka, Chairman & CEO of StevenDouglas and founder of the Read to Succeed Initiative.

The second event will be held in early June at Smoke on the Water, a cigar bar and lounge where, in addition to an open bar, food and cigars, a photographer will take pictures of all donors with Jason and print them out on-site so that Jason can personalize them that evening.

On behalf of Jason Taylor, StevenDouglas and the deserving youth at the Jason Taylor Reading Room, we thank you for your consideration.
